A fusion of world music, folk roots and blues...
North London's Delta Ladies - a hypnotic fusion of world music, folk roots and blues, christened 'Hillbilly Trance'.
The duo, Vicky Martin - guitar, banjo, kandela - and Dee Stone - fiddle and keys - were recently joined by top world percussionist Danny Bryan (Bex Marshall / Barry White) and the sound of 'Hillbilly Trance' was born.
The album, of the same name, also features harmonica maestro Alan Glen (Nine Below Zero / Yardbirds) and on Double bass Tali Trow (Bonnie Dobson, Gemma Craven, Miranda Mulholland, John Murray).
The Deltas have played close to 1800 gigs and numerous festivals in the UK and France but recently added something startlingly new to their arsenal; as Vicky Martin tells it “Danny Bryan joined us and we were inspired to explore the world music rhythms of multi-cultural London and add them to our sound... we've lived with these sounds all around us and so it seemed a very natural thing to do”.
The band have been compared to the legendary 70's band Quintessence, as 'unique & brilliant', as the place 'Where Old-time American meets the Velvet Underground' and as a 'a mesmerizing, hypnotic wall of sound; very different all in the very best way'
The band have shared the stage with many luminaries from the folk and blues scenes – Lindisfarne, Jez Lowe, Chris Farlowe, Fairport Convention and Linda Gail Lewis among others...
