For the last 5 years we've invited the best unsigned artistes to audition for their chance to perform at our Festival. Held since 2010, the auditions have been held in memory of Jessica Foxley, a talented musician who sadly lost her life. Jessica’s legacy and love of music has lived on since with an initiative called Jessica Foxley Unsigned, which has provided some of the UK’s best unsigned artistes with a platform to kick-start their careers.
The opportunity to play at Europe’s Best Blues Festival draws in a massive amount of auditions from some of the best unsigned artistes from all over the UK. This year, we were inundated with hopefuls but only 7 could prevail. We've already introduced you to Tales of Two Counties and Good Foxy, but this week it is the turn of Jack Blackman.
Hailing from Warwickshire, Jack Blackman is gaining a reputation much further afield. Dubbed as ‘one of the most accomplished and exciting young performers’ on the acoustic roots scene, Jack has won acclaim from many industry publications and music industry professionals alike. His guitar playing was described as ‘exquisite’ by FATEA Magazine and Acoustic Magazine echoed the compliments by describing Jack’s voice as ‘older and more careworn than his tender years should allow’.
Currently touring England, Jack will make his debut at Colne’s Rhythm and Blues Festival on the Acoustic Stage on Monday 31st August.
