Following the success of #ColneBlues2017, Jessica Foxley Unsigned seek outstanding, unsigned, young talent (solo artists or bands) to complement the line-up of main artists playing at​ ​the Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival 2018.

There is no entry fee; simply an online application form needs to be completed in order to be considered.
Applicants are requested to submit links to a sound recording and a video of their act performing at least one song live, all via the online form. Solo artists, or the lead musicians in bands, must be young and based in the UK; the focus is on supporting musicians up to the age of about 25.

Applications are perused​ – then​ discussed by a panel of judges – who will use the submitted sound recordings and videos to select a shortlist and​ the four ‘winners’.​

Margaret Foxley (from Jessica Foxley Unsigned) explains further. “Bringing together young talent from across the UK and giving them a high profile performance opportunity is what our project is all about. In 2017, Jessica Foxley Unsigned selected a number of acts to perform on the two main festival stages at the Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival from over sixty applications. The calibre of talent during 2017 was so high that, when asked to nominate one of our acts for the UK Blues Challenge, we were faced with a very difficult decision. We encourage bands and individuals to apply for the 2018 festival – the media exposure for your band/act alone would be worth it!”

Applications will be judged on the following criteria​ – originality​, c​reativity​, t​echnical ability​, m​usical compatibility (with a broadly based, contemporary Blues festival)​ and e​ntertainment value​.​
