Mike Sanchez & His Band
Friday 28th August 2026
The Muni Theatre | 23:00 – 00:00
British singer and pianist Mike Sanchez is one of the most dynamic and charismatic performers in rhythm & blues and rock ’n’ roll.
Renowned for his high-energy boogie-woogie piano style and electrifying stage presence, he has built an international following and worked with many legendary artists.
Born in London in 1964 to Spanish parents, Mike developed a passion for 1950s American roots music after moving to the West Midlands as a child. He formed his first rockabilly band as a teenager before co-founding the Big Town Playboys in 1984, specialising in authentic post-war Rhythm & Blues.
The band earned major acclaim, opening for Eric Clapton, appearing at leading festivals, and collaborating with blues greats. Their albums included Crazy Legs (1993), a Gene Vincent tribute with Jeff Beck.
In 2000 Mike went solo and began several touring and recording projects involving different UK line-ups, and he soon became a full-time member of Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings, touring Europe alongside an all-star line-up.
He also released acclaimed live projects and collaborated with artists such as Imelda May and Albert Lee. After relocating to Spain in 2010, Mike continued recording and touring across Europe.
Following a successful UK tour in 2025 promoting Hey Now!, new projects are lined up for 2026 and beyond.
