This new four piece band sounds fantastic. The music has a blues heart, but with African, Caribbean, Rock’n’Roll and other grooves in the mix too. It’s a great lineup of musicians with such a wealth of experience and a cool sounding warmth, their music rocks!
Here are a few words about the band members….
Michael Messer – vocals & slide guitar – Johnny Cash was a fan of Michael Messer’s music and wrote the liner notes for his album “Rhythm Oil”, a rare honour shared only with Bob Dylan and Kris Kristofferson. Throughout his 45 year career Michael’s music has remained individual and contemporary. Having released ten albums and won awards for his music, Michael’s reputation as a songwriter, innovator, and master of slide guitar, are well known.
Chaz Jankel – guitar & backing vocals – Chaz co-wrote many hit songs with Ian Dury & the Blockheads, including, “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll”, “Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick”, “Reasons To Be Cheerful Part 3” and “Clever Trevor”. Chaz also wrote “Ai No Corrida” for Quincy Jones, and has written film scores that include, “D.O.A”, “The Rachel Papers”, “Making Mr Right” and “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll”, which earned him a BAFTA nomination.
Billy Fuller – bass & backing vocals – Billy was Robert Plant’s bass player for 17 years and as well as extensive touring, he co-wrote and recorded three albums with Robert Plant. Billy has also worked with Alicia Keys, Portishead, Massive Attack, Kula Shaker, Baxter Dury, Beak, Billy Nomates and others.
Clive Deamer – drums & backing vocals – Clive has spent the past 11 years playing with Radiohead. Clive played with Robert Plant for 6 years and also played for many years with Portishead. In addition, Clive has worked with Jeff Beck, Alison Moyet, Dr John, Roni Size and more.
